Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 11:44AM
©2009 StudioGPUStudioGPU recently announced the enhancement of their product MachStudio Pro to version 1.2. New features include:
- Displacement mapping using hardware tessellation.
- Stereoscopic camera support.
- Cartoon Shaders.
- Configurable Anti-Alias settings.
- Render passes/layers.
- OpenEXR support.
- Floating point Velocity Maps.
- 64bit support.
Machstudio Pro remains one of the few realtime hardware rendering solutions available. Strong integration with the Autodesk lineup could provide interesting implications for the previsualization and independent CG film markets.

We have been using Mach Studio Pro since its initial test release last Feb. While there are still some pipeline issues and a few rocks in the road, we are very pleased with how Mach allows us to integrate lighting into our work from original set concept development through sequence previs. I have also found the guys at Studio GPU supportive and very open to continued development on their software. They are quite keen to evolve Mach into a strong tool for previs use. If anyone would like more info on our experience using it, please drop me a line: jericca@twentyoneinc.com.
Has there been any major enhancements to the Maya exporter into Mach? Last time I checked, it was still a command line call and could use some work. It would be nice to see something more significant.
Is there a trial version available?
I assume not...because I could not find anything on their website. Just hoping that i overlooked the button where it says "download trial version" ;)
Cheers, Rene
MachStudio is great but since it has it's own workflow outside of the mainstream DCC app a little bit of hands on training goes a long way. The guys at StudioGPU are quick with adding new features and updating the existing ones.
Good to hear. I'm going to a demo of theirs next monday. (The 14th) It's mainly going to be on the exporting pipeline from Maya to Mach. I'll let you know how it goes.
